Types of IRCTC PNR Status

When booking train tickets, you'll encounter various status codes that indicate the current state of your reservation. Understanding these codes helps you better interpret your booking status:

CNF (Confirmed)

Your ticket is confirmed and you have been assigned a specific seat/berth for your journey.

RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation)

You have a shared sitting accommodation where one berth is temporarily shared between two passengers. If cancellations occur, RAC tickets may get upgraded to CNF.

WL (Waiting List)

Your ticket is on the waiting list and will be confirmed only if confirmed passengers cancel their tickets or more coaches are added.

GNWL (General Waiting List)

A general waiting list ticket with relatively high chances of confirmation, especially for tickets booked well in advance.

PQWL (Pooled Quota Waiting List)

Applied to journeys between intermediate stations or partial routes. These tickets draw from a special quota pool.

RLWL (Remote Location Waiting List)

Tickets for passengers boarding/deboarding at intermediate stations along the route. Confirmation depends on seat availability for that specific segment.

TQWL (Tatkal Quota Waiting List)

Waiting list status for tickets booked under the Tatkal quota (emergency/last-minute bookings). Note that GNWL tickets get priority over TQWL during chart preparation.

CAN (Cancelled)

The ticket has been cancelled either by the passenger or by the railway authority.

NOSB (No Seat Berth)

Usually assigned to children under 11 years of age, indicating they are permitted to travel without a separate seat allocation.
